Our candidates for election to the SCCATA Board of Directors for 2025 are as follows.
Our first candidate for elections to the SCCATA Board is Patrick Wright. Patrick is currently on the SCCATA Board of Directors and is up for reelection.
South Central Chapter Alaska Trappers Association members let me introduce myself. I am Patrick Wright, son of Jesse Wright who came to trap in the territory of Alaska before World War 2. Growing up on a homestead required our family to live off the land, and trapping was a significant part of that.
Throughout my life I have run traplines in many places in Alaska in various climatic regions. But it wasn’t until the early 90’s that I joined others in the newly forming South Central Chapter ATA and have worked on the board of directors of SCCATA since,
I am happy to see the many events this organization engaged in. Hopefully with other volunteers we can make a presence in trapping and Alaska Communities, Respectfully I ask your support so I might continue to serve on the board of SCCATA.
Our second candidate for elections to the SCCATA Board is Bret Bohn. Bret is currently on the SCCATA Board of Directors and is up for reelection.
My name is Bret Bohn and I am born and raised in South Central Alaska. I’ve been an ATA member since 2010 and a life member since 2020. I’ve been trapping for 24 years now.
Trapping is the reason I get to live the lifestyle that I enjoy so much. It’s important to me to have a voice in its future and protect what we have and share what I know with others.
As new trappers are coming into the South-Central trapping scene, I believe I’d make a difference as a board member for the region in supporting what the future holds for trapping in Alaska, protecting it, and serving as a reference for others.
Our third candidate for elections to the SCCATA Board of Directors is Lance Davis.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve on the board for the Alaska Trappers Association South Central Chapter. I am excited to bring my extensive business and networking experience to the Chapter to help grow the membership and rapport within our local communities. I am excited to help bridge the gap and deepen relationships between experienced trappers and the younger generation of trappers to ensure the trapper’s way of life continues to thrive for generations to come.
I feel I can be a strong advocate for the Chapter and help build strong ties within the community that will have a lasting and positive impact. I can be a voice of goodwill within the community as a local business owner, husband, father, and outdoorsman. I am a life-long Alaskan and currently I am in my 20th year selling real estate where I lead one of the top real estate teams in the state for sales as well as, serve as the Broker-in-Charge of the Keller Williams AK Group of Eagle River Branch office.
Prior to selling real estate, I served our country for 5 years of active duty in the US Army and 1.5 years in the Army National Guard as a Korean Cryptologic Linguist. During this time in the US Army, I spent time overseas in Iraq and South Korea. In addition to speaking Korean, I am also fluent in Spanish as I served a mission for my Church for two years in Honduras after High School.
Growing up I spent as much time as possible chasing salmon or trout with a fly rod in the nearby Mat-Su streams and especially cherish the annual caribou/moose hunts with my dad. I enjoy spending time with my family in the outdoors whether it is hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, dip-netting, white water rafting, or snow machining. I love the outdoors and will always fight to protect our rights as trappers. I am also excited to increase my understanding and hands-on experience within the trapping community and make a positive contribution to the trapping community.
Thank you for this opportunity,
Lance Davis
Our fourth candidate for elections to the SCCATA Board of Directors as the Youth Board Member is 15 yr old Maika’i Davis.
My name is Maika’i Davis. I’m born and raised in Alaska, and I love nothing more than the outdoors. I’m a fishing fool, I love hiking and being in the mountains, I enjoy hunting and seeing wildlife, and I’m very competitive and enthusiastic when it comes to my sports. I do Brazilian Jujitsu and swimming. I have been swimming for 12 years and doing jujitsu for almost 8.
Trapping is a part of Alaska, and I would love to help keep it that way and keep the rights of trappers. I hope to learn and help people learn about trapping. I would like to trap for a very long time, and I need trapping to stay such a big part of Alaska for the future generations.
